The New Testament was written by men, and the stories it tells are primarily about men. Yet through the tremendous work done by women to help give birth to and nurture the Jesus movement in its early decades, the Church grew phenomenally — from a small patchwork of grassroots gatherings to a faith that reached from the tip of India in the east to the British Isles in the west.

The Episcopal Church of the Incarnation in San Francisco’s Sunset District will host a four‑week book study led by Patrick W. Andersen, author of the novel Acts of the Women. Following the fictional trials and travels of several prominent female apostles, the book explores how it might have been possible for the young faith to spread so rapidly across the map of the known world.

The book study will meet on Mondays from May 11 through June 1, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., at Episcopal Church of the Incarnation, 1750 29th Avenue, between Noriega and Moraga. Please RSVP to priestincharge@incarnationsf.org if you plan to attend.
